Overview:
A leading supplier to the agriculture industry, with approximately $100 million in annual revenue, is seeking a seasoned executive to serve as Vice President, Chief Financial Officer (CFO). Essential Duties and Responsibilities Include:
Financial Management and Oversight
- Oversee all accounting functions, including general ledger accounting, internal and external reporting, credit, accounts receivable, accounts payable, human resources, information technology, and tax.
- Design and maintain internal policies, controls, and procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure transactions are executed in accordance with GAAP and company guidelines.
- Oversee compliance reporting, including reporting for banks, external financial reporting, and tax purposes.
- Perform Corporate Treasurer duties as outlined in the bylaws of the corporation.
- Oversee risk management, including insurance, and participate in the negotiation and management of supply contracts.
- Manage relationships with financial institutions, outside auditors and tax preparers, insurers, and other key external stakeholders.
- Collaborate with the CEO and VP of Operations on strategic planning and policy setting, forecasting, budgeting, and cash flow management.
- Seek and analyze opportunities for growth and expansion.
- Maintain positive relationships with key internal stakeholders, including ownership interests and the Board of Directors.
- Maintain a visible presence with key industry organizations to represent the company's interests.
- Coordinate with and support marketing, operations, and other functions of the company.
- Assist in analyzing and negotiating contracts with employee unions.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field.
- At least ten years of relevant experience in a comparable-sized company or equivalent industry experience, including senior management, executive, or leadership responsibilities.
- Broad business orientation that encompasses not only finance and accounting but also the needs, priorities, development, and success of operations, marketing, and other critical business functions.
- Demonstrated leadership and credibility, with the ability to build trust and strong relationships across the organization, with ownership, and with external stakeholders.
- Professional-level written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Experience managing relationships with external auditors, banks, lessors, and other third parties.
- Sound judgment, creativity, and the ability to operate with a high degree of independence and latitude.
- Advanced degree in business, finance, accounting, or a related field, and/or Certified Public Accountant (CPA) designation.
- Senior management or executive leadership experience in companies with revenues of $100 million or greater.
- Relevant agribusiness industry experience, including experience with agricultural cooperatives.
